Washington Commanders‘ running backs coach Anthony Lynn has been busy.
On Saturday, the Bills announced they had interviewed Lynn for their head coach opening. Then late Saturday, we learn that Lynn was interviewed a second time, and this time by a second NFL team looking for a head coach. This time, the Cleveland Browns were the team in need of a head coach, and they chose to interview Lynn. It was the first time Lynn had interviewed for the Browns. Incidentally, Lynn has coached previously for both the Bills and the Browns.
Lynn has served as Washington’s running backs coach and offensive running game coordinator for the past two seasons. He does have head coaching experience, having coached the Los Angeles Chargers from the top position for four seasons from 2017 through 2020.
Now age 57, Lynn has quite a bit of NFL coaching experience, working in different cities. He began his NFL coaching in 2000 and has coached for the Broncos (2000-2002), Jaguars (2003-2004), Cowboys (2005-2006), Browns (2007-2008), Jets (2009-2014), Bills (2015-2016), Chargers (2017-2020), Lions (2021), 49ers (2022-2023), Commanders (2024-2025).
Playing six NFL seasons as a running back, Lynn played for the Broncos and 49ers in 83 total games, rushing for 177 yards on 28 rushing attempts.
