Avieon Terrell, a 2025 All-American, is a cornerback from Clemson, who fell to the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 23 in the first round of NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft for the 2026 draft posted on Monday.

Daniel Jeremiah Links Avieon Terrell to Philadelphia

Terrell was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award given to the top defensive back in the nation each year after 46 tackles (4.5 for loss), a career-high 3.0 sacks, 11 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery as a junior in 2025.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound corner has experience playing both inside nickel corner and on the outside, giving a prospective NFL team versatility.

Jeremiah listed three corners in his top 20 picks ahead of Terrell. He has LSU’s Masoor Delane going to the New York Giants at No. 7, Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy at No. 10 to the Miami Dolphons and Colton Hood, also from Tennessee, going to the Dallas Cowboys with pick No. 12.

Terrell teams up with Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell to give the Eagles the best young secondary in the NFL. The former Clemson Tiger can play inside or outside.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. projected Terrell to the Eagles with their pick as well in his first mock draft on Jan 21.

Terrell, though, would be a reliable answer. He broke up nine passes and forced five — yes, five — fumbles in 2025. He’s terrific in man coverage, and coordinator Vic Fangio had his defense in man 55% of the time this season, third most in the NFL.

The Eagles could go in a lot of directions for next season.

Other Needs: Could the Eagles Look at Edge or Tight End?

The team could go with a player like Terrell to play opposite Quinyon Mitchell.  They might need to add another edge rusher with Jaelan Phillips future in doubt. The team could look at the safety spot if Reed Blankenship walks or look to bolster the offensive side of the ball.

Replacing Veterans: The Lane Johnson and Dallas Goedert Factor

Tight end Dallas Goedert is a free agent, and the team does not have a young tight end waiting in the wings. Lane Johnson is getting near the end of the road, so the team could look to add a replacement who could challenge for playing time at guard in 2026 or bump to tackle if Johnson retires.

When is the NFL Draft?
