Woody Marks is handing some funds back to the NFL’s front office.

According to the NFL’s Gameday Accountability page, Marks was one of five players around the league issued a fine during the Houston Texans’ 28-16 loss to the New England Patriots last week. He was one of five players slapped with a fine of $6,061 due to unnecessary roughness and use of the helmet.

The incident occurred when the rookie running back smacked Patriots defensive back Craig Woodson with just under nine minutes to go on a secod quarter. Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud had just thrown his third interception of the first half and Woodson tried to keep the ball in play while making a run toward the sidelines.

Marks laid down the hit, but he led with his helmet rather than his shoulder pad. Since it’s illegal to hit a player with the crown of the helmet, Marks was given a fine, though no foul was called by officials on the field.

Marks, a fourth-round pick out of USC, finished the game with 17 yards on 14 carries. The week prior versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, he totaled 112 yards and scored the nail-in-the-coffin touchdown in the fourth quarter en route to a 30-6 victory.
