Former Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak could have some company in the family in terms of winning the big one.

With the Seattle Seahawks punching their ticket to Super Bowl 60, Klint Kubiak could be the next winner in the Kubiak family to claim a ring. The first-year offensive coordinator helped Seattle become one of the league’s more explosive offenses behind new quarterback Sam Darnold and All-Pro wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

After spending the 2024 season with the New Orleans Saints under then-coach Dennis Allen, Kubiak was hired under second-year coach Mike McDonald in the Pacific Northwest. After having a stable defense that helped the Seahawks post a 10-7 record, Kubiak was the missing link to get the NFC West franchise over the hump and into the Super Bowl.

With Darnold, the Seahawks ranked third in scoring (28.4 points per game), eighth in total yards (351.4 yards per game) and 10th in rushing (123.3 yards per game). Darnold, who prior to this season was viewed as a fringe starter, threw for over 4,000 yards in the regular season and 25 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the combination of running backs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonett totaled over 1,800 yards and 17 touchdowns. Smith-Njigba, who took over as the No. 1 option in place of D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, led the league with 1,793 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns while averaging 105.5 yards per game.

Beginning his coaching career with the Minnesota Vikings in 2013, Kubiak never coached under his father, but has since become one of the hottest names on the head coaching market entering the offseason. He’s expected to be considered for both the Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals opening, though could return to Lumen Field for another season if not hired.

Kubiak, the Texans‘ all-time winningest coach in franchise history, spent eight seasons in Houston before being fired in 2013. He later would go on to lead the Denver Broncos to a Super Bowl title in 2015 with Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning in Super Bowl 50.

The Texans own the No. 28 pick in the upcoming NFL draft.
