CULVER, IN (WSBT) — The sudden passing of Colts owner Jim Irsay is impacting more than just football fans and Indianapolis.

The impact of the death of Colts owner Jim Irsay is being felt in the small community of Culver.

It’s where he owned property and a golf course.

Although many locals we spoke to had not seen Irsay, one said that he got to shake his hand and meet him at an event for Colt’s season ticket holders at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“It’s such a bummer that he’s not with us anymore. What a generous guy and I love the fact that not only was he a great benefactor of the sports situation in Indianapolis and the community,” said Jimmy Henderson, Met Jim Irsay.

Outside of being a team owner, Irsay was also known for something more important, and that was his generosity.

“Well, I mean just his his philanthropy, you know and how much he cared about everybody in the community the team players, the organization, you know and everything he did for musicians cause I’m a musician as well so I mean just what a great guy,” said Henderson.

Irsay owned a golf course in Culver as well as some property.

He used his golf course for good as well.

“Well he’s he’s right here on the south end of this beautiful lake and in his golf course horseshoe farms we actually as an alumni here of the Academy we got to come back and play the course for a hockey reunion and a great guy,” said Henderson.

The Pat McAfee Show took the day remembering the late owner.
