MCCARTHY FAMILY PHOTO

Mike McCarthy is officially the Steelers’ head coach. Although he’s been a head coach before, it became clear quickly just how much this job means to him. McCarthy is a Pittsburgh native, so this is a dream come true for him. He got emotional at his introductory press conference, showing the depth of the moment to him.

Also, many of McCarthy’s family members attended his press conference. ESPN’s Brooke Pryor shared a picture on Twitter of McCarthy posing with his family after the press conference. It’s quite the turnout for the new Steelers coach, and it’s nice that he got to share that moment with so many people he cares about.

UNIVERSITY CONGRATULATES STEELERS HC

Mike McCarthy is from Pittsburgh, and now, he’s getting to coach his hometown team. However, he’s made plenty of previous coaching stops. That includes being the head coach of the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys. That’s three historic franchises that McCarthy has been in charge of.

However, he can also trace his roots back to Baker University. McCarthy went to college and played football there. It’s located in Baldwin City, Kansas, which isn’t anywhere near Pittsburgh. McCarthy’s alma mater took to Twitter to congratulate him on joining the Steelers. It goes to show just how long McCarthy has been around and how many places he’s stopped at.

We extend our congratulations to Baker University alum Mike McCarthy ’87 on being named head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers!

BROWNS QB TO PRO BOWL

The Super Bowl is set. The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will square off for a championship. However, before that, the Pro Bowl will take place. While it’s supposed to be an honor, not everyone who gets selected to the Pro Bowl ends up attending the event. Many players back out, for one reason or another. That allows other players to attend as alternates.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders is an alternate this year, as the team announced on Twitter. It’s a surprising update, though. Sanders didn’t have a great 2025 season, throwing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. It’s an example that making the Pro Bowl doesn’t always necessarily mean that a player is good.
