One of the candidates to be the Arizona Cardinals‘ new head coach is apparently off the board now. The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Tuesday that they agreed to terms with defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile on a contract, retaining him in 2026.

Campanile was one of three reported finalists for the Cardinals‘ head coaching vacancy, so either he was told he was eliminated or he elected to return to the Jags without knowing whether or not he would be the guy.

With that news, it would seem to be that the Cardinals are down to former Atlanta Falcons head coach Rakeem Morris and Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, who was flown in on Monday night for dinner and met with the team on Tuesday.

The lack of a report of them finalizing a deal for him to be hired is concerning, because what will the Cardinals do next?

There is a report that they met in-person with former Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera for the job, so that is new information.
