SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) — MGM Springfield is preparing for large crowds as the New England Patriots gear up to face the Seattle Seahawks in the big game in less than two weeks.
The South End’s resort-casino has seen increased traffic as quarterback Drake Maye has led the Patriots to one of their best seasons since the Tom Brady era, according to MGM Springfield spokesperson Beth Ward. “I mean, let’s face it, when the Patriots do well, we do well. Not just MGM Springfield, but you know, all across New England and Western Mass. because we’re such die-hard Patriots fans,” she explained.
MGM Springfield plans to be fully staffed for the playoff game as they expect packed crowds throughout the facility. The casino’s sports betting area will offer several wagering options, though some bets are prohibited. Ward said guests cannot place bets on things such as how long the national anthem will run or what color Gatorade will be poured on the winning team. “Ask the people that we have here and our team members who really know the ins and outs of how to place a bet. They’re here to help and that’s what it’s all about. It’s just being together and having a good time,” Ward said.
The casino will feature a DJ in TAP for gameday entertainment. MGM Springfield will also offer food specials for guests who prefer not to cook at home during the game.
With college basketball season also underway, Ward said MGM Springfield expects to stay busy in the coming months.
