The Buffalo Bills promoted Joe Brady to head coach, which leaves the door open for Brian Daboll to join Tennessee Titans

Brian Daboll could join the Tennessee Titans after Joe Brady got the Bills head coach job.

The Buffalo Bills are making more changes to their coaching staff after giving Joe Brady a promotion, losing one of the now-former offensive coordinators top position coaches.

The Bills ended their head coaching search this week by naming Brady as the successor to Sean McDermott, who was fired after the team’s divisional-round loss to the Denver Broncos. Brady is expected to start making some big additions to the staff including new coordinators on both sides of the ball, and now he will need to find a new wide receivers coach as well.

Bills Making Deep Changes on Offense

NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe noted on Wednesday that the Pittsburgh Steelers were hiring a longtime member of Buffalo’s staff.

“Steelers are hiring Adam Henry as their new receivers coach, per source. Henry is a longtime receivers coach who has spent the last 3 years coaching Bills receivers,” Wolfe reported.

It’s a lateral move for Henry, a sign that the Bills are planning to move in a new direction after their offensive coordinator was promoted to head coach.

As SI.com’s Jacob Punturi noted, Henry had plenty of success with the Bills.

“The Steelers are getting a talented and experienced coach in Adam Henry,” Punturi wrote. “Before joining the Steelers’ staff, he worked with the Buffalo Bills for the past three seasons. During his first season in the role, he helped Stefon Diggs accumulate over 1,100 receiving yards. In 2024, he helped Khalil Shakir emerge as their top pass catcher with 812 receiving yards on 76 receptions. Shakir was once again the top receiver in Buffalo this past season with just over 700 receiving yards.”

The Bills adopted what Brady called an “everybody eats” approach to their receiving corps in 2024, following the departures of Diggs and Gabe Davis. The Bills found great success with the approach that season, allowing quarterback Josh Allen to spread targets around to a wider group of pass catchers, but it started to show some cracks in 2025. Bills receivers struggled to get separation, allowing opposing defenses to put pressure on Allen.

Bills Facing More Changes on Defense

While Brady is searching for a new offensive coordinator to fill his old position, the team will also need a new leader of their defense. Bobby Babich, the team’s defensive coordinator who worked closely with McDermott, took a job with the Green Bay Packers as their defensive passing game coordinator.

As Zach Cruse of USA Today’s Packers Wire noted, Babich had interviewed for Green Bay’s defensive coordinator position in 2024, though he ended up staying with the Bills.

The Bills reportedly pursued Denver Broncos defensive pass coordinator Jim Leonhard for their defensive coodinator position. Leonhard is seen as a rising candidate in coaching circles and played for the Bills during their playoff drought years.
