Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields could be finding a new NFL home this offseason.

The New York Jets inked a two-year, $40 million contract with Fields this offseason, but his performance this season was far from stellar. In nine games, he threw for 1,259 yards and only 7 touchdowns.

New York will likely be looking for a new starting quarterback this offseason, and CBS Sports NFL writer Joel Corry thinks the Jets could move Fields this offseason.

“The Jets signed Fields to a two-year, $40 million deal with $30 million fully guaranteed as an unrestricted free agent last March in the hopes that he would be more than a bridge quarterback,” Corry wrote on Wednesday. “Fields’ preseason struggles were dismissed rather than seen as a warning sign after he played well against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the regular season opener.

“It was downhill for the 2021 first-round pick after the Steelers game. Fields had a dubious distinction in a Week 6 loss to the Broncos. He was sacked nine times in producing a franchise-worst minus-10 net passing yards. Fields was benched nine games into the season.”

There’s a possibility that the Steelers could reunite with Fields this offseason, especially if Aaron Rodgers doesn’t come back. They will be in the market for a quarterback.
