Things are going to look a lot different at One Bills Drive in 2026.

Joe Brady was named the Buffalo Bills’ head coach on Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean that the team’s former offensive coordinator is keeping the coaching staff the same in 2026. In fact, many coaches have already departed and some intriguing names remain to fill certain roles on the team.

Who’s in, who’s out, and what’s next? Here’s a look at everything we know.

Who’s in?

Joe Brady, head coach: After interviewing nine different candidates for their head coaching vacancy, Buffalo announced Joe Brady would be replacing Sean McDermott as the team’s head coach.

Brady has not made any official hirings on his staff as of this writing, but the team has been linked to at least one candidate for defensive coordinator, and another intriguing option may have become available today in Cleveland.

While Brady has not added any new coaches to the team, Buffalo has parted ways with a few coaches from their 2025 team.

Who’s out?

Bobby Babich: Buffalo’s defensive coordinator of the past two seasons is out in Buffalo. This was expected as the team’s defensive letdowns played a big part in the team moving on from Sean McDermott.

Babich was announced on Wednesday as the defensive pass game coordinator and secondary coach for the Green Bay Packers.

Adam Henry: Buffalo’s wide receivers coach has also found employment elsewhere. Henry took a lateral job with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will serve in the same role (wide receivers coach) for the Steelers.

Henry was not given the most talented room at wide receiver in Buffalo, but he also did not develop or elevate any of the players that he worked with during his time in Buffalo.

Chris Tabor: Buffalo’s special teams coordinator in 2025 was hired by the Miami Dolphins shortly after McDermott was dismissed as head coach. Tabor has a history of success coaching special teams and did a great job of coaching Ray Davis into an All-Pro as a returner last season.

Aaron Kromer: The biggest loss to date was Aaron Kromer, Buffalo’s offensive line coach. Shortly after the Bills were eliminated from the playoffs, it was announced that Kromer was retiring. This is a massive blow for the Bills, and whoever is hired to replace Kromer will have big shoes to fill.

What’s next? Hiring coordinators, filling staff

Babich likely presented his vision for coordinators to Brandon Beane and Terry Pegula during the interview process. Who could he be targeting? Here are a few options.

Offensive coordinator options

DJ Mangas: Mangas was an offensive aide for the Bills last season, but knows Brady as well as anyone on the coaching staff. Mangas and Brady spent time together at William & Mary at the collegiate ranks and were together on the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers before coming to Buffalo.

Pete Carmichael Jr.: Carmichael took Brady under his wing in New Orleans. He learned plenty from the veteran coach before departing to LSU.

Carmichael Jr. is currently on the Broncos’ coaching staff as the senior offensive assistant coach.

Joe Lombardi: Just fired by the Broncos, Brady could look to reunite with Lombardi. The two also worked together in New Orleans.

Lombardi had high praise for Brady in their past stint.

“(Work ethic and intelligence) are always two qualities you look for in people,” Lombardi said. “Someone who’s got the ability to do a job and someone you know is going to work very hard at it. Those things really do stand out. I’m not surprised at all with the success that he’s had.”

Regardless of who is hired for the role, Brady will reportedly call the offensive plays in 2026.

Defensive coordinator options

Jim Leonhard: Leonhard was linked to the Bills as a top candidate for the defensive coordinator job after Brady was hired. The Bills, however, will have competition for his services as the Los Angeles Chargers have also requested to interview Leonhard for their defensive coordinator job.

In 2025, Leonhard served as the Broncos’ defensive pass game coordinator and assistant head coach. Leonhard coached at Wisconsin before joining the NFL coaching ranks and played multiple seasons in the NFL, including a stint with the Bills.

Jim Schwartz: Jim Schwartz, a former Bills defensive coordinator, was in play to be the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Instead, the Browns opted to go with Todd Monken. Schwartz reportedly wants out of Cleveland following the news, but he is still under contract with the Browns. If Cleveland lets him go, don’t be surprised if the Bills pounce.

Anthony Weaver: Buffalo interviewed Anthony Weaver for the head coach job before choosing Brady. He was the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator the past two seasons and spent three years with the Ravens before that as a defensive line coach, run game coordinator and assistant head coach.

Buffalo could have competition for Weaver, however. He is expected to be pursued by the New York Giants, where he would reunite with John Harbaugh.

Raheem Morris: If Raheem Morris is looking for work in 2026, the Bills should look at the veteran coach. Morris was fired as the Atlanta Falcons’ head coach at the end of the season, but his resume as a defensive mind speaks for itself.

Offensive line coach candidate to watch

Zak Kromer: Aaron Kromer may have retired, but that doesn’t mean that the Bills can’t have a Kromer coaching the offensive line in 2026.

Kromer is currently the assistant offensive line coach of the Los Angeles Rams. He’s been interviewed in the past for offensive line jobs and is one of the more attractive options available at this time.
