The Philadelphia Eagles had requested to interview Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter for the same position.Cooter previously worked with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni in Kansas City in 2012.He also served as a consultant for the Eagles during the 2021 season.Cooter has extensive NFL coaching experience, including a stint as the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator.
Nick Sirianni would love to hire another one of his close friends or disciples as the offensive coordinator, and he’s reached out to Indianapolis to see what comes of it. Mike Garafalo initially reported that the Eagles requested an interview with Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter for the same role in Philadelphia.
He previously worked with the Eagles in 2021 as a consultant after being fired by the Lions. Sirianni and Cooter worked together in Kansas City in 2012, when he was the Chiefs’ wide receivers coach, and Cooter was a quality control coach who helped Sirianni coach the wide receivers.
On Tuesday, Cooter had his second interview of the process, this time in person.
Cooter, 38, got his start coaching in the NFL with the Colts as an offensive assistant under former head coach Jim Caldwell for three seasons (2009-2011).
Cooter was the first known candidate in the running for the offensive coordinator vacancy and was Shane Steichen’s first,t hire following a successful season as the passing-game coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022.
