The New Orleans Saints have finally found their quarterback of the future, as rookie quarterback Tyler Shough broke out in a big way in his rookie season.

While there’s still room to grow, the potential is there, and the Saints can now confidently build the offense around him. Chris Olave is under contract for one more year, but they could use another top receiver, and taking one in the first round wouldn’t be a surprise.

And a 1st-round WR talent, Carnell Tate from Ohio State, during an appearance on the Down 2 Business podcast, shared the two quarterbacks he’s hoping to play with in the NFL. Buffalo Bills‘ Josh Allen and Shough were the two QBs he named.

“I love to go play with Josh Allen, he can get you the ball, he’s experienced,” Tate said, “Feel like the saints, with Tyler, Tylers been balling…”

Tate is a top wide receiver prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft, and could be the Saints’ pick at 9th overall this year. He’s a standout 21-year-old option who would be a nice addition opposite fellow Ohio State Buckeyes WR Olave.

Having Tate mention two quarterbacks he’s interested in playing for, and one being Shough, while the other is MVP QB Josh Allen, is a very good sign for the Saints.

This means that, at the very least, the Saints quarterback situation has improved enough to warrant top prospects having an interest in playing for them.

Tate is a great wide receiver prospect and would be a nice addition at the 9th pick. With a need at wide receiver, he’s very much in play for the saints first-round pick.

There is a chance that a team ahead of them takes Tate, but if he makes it to 9th overall, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Saints drafted him.

He’s coming off a solid year for Ohio State, putting up 51 receptions for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 11 games. While he might not have the eye-popping stats that other WRs in this class might have, Tate is one of the best receivers in this class, if not the best.

Drafting Tate to pair with Shough and Olave would be incredible, and could help turn the Saints offense from a decent unit in 2025 to a potentially elite one in 2026.

Tate is interested in playing for Shough and named him alongside Allen as the two quarterbacks he’d love playing for. Not only is this good news for the Saints, but it’s great news for Shough that he has rookies comparing him to the best QBs in the NFL.
