One day after the Buffalo Bills saw former defensive coordinator Bobby Babich and wide receivers coach Adam Henry sign elsewhere, perhaps the biggest loss has hit the defensive coaching staff, with cornerbacks coach Jahmile Addae joining the Miami Dolphins’ in the same role, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Addae, 41, played college football for four years at West Virginia at the safety position before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent. He has been with the Bills since 2024 and was a big part of the secondary’s development, particularly cornerback Christian Benford, who earned All-Pro votes during Addae’s first year on the staff. Veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White also resurrected his career until the guidance of Addae during the 2025 NFL season.

Aside from the news of offensive line coach Aaron Kromer retiring, this loss will likely sting the most for the Bills, as the new coaching staff undergoes significant changes under new head coach Joe Brady. The rumors of Jim Leonhard as defensive coordinator is interesting to think about, however, as he is a former NFL safety and would have great knowledge and hopefully development of the secondary.

It’s beginning to look as though One Bills Drive could see a complete overhaul of their defensive coaching staff. That will likely occupy most of Brady’s time in the early going, so that they can then properly evaluate how each player in-house fits with the intended scheme.
