Perhaps Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero still has a chance at a head-coaching gig after all.
On Thursday, ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler hinted that Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has emerged as the favorite in the Las Vegas Raiders‘ head-coaching search—one Evero has interviewed twice for. Fowler noted that one candidate believes it’s “[Kubiak’s] to lose,” and that a decision could come after another meeting this weekend.
But we might have to pump the brakes.
Fowler, later in the day, reported that Evero is “still in the mix” for Las Vegas . . .
In addition to the Raiders job, Evero had interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Atlanta and Pittsburgh, respectively, have since hired Kevin Stefanski and Mike McCarthy as their head coaches.

The only other such opening in the NFL sits with the Arizona Cardinals, who have also expressed interest in Kubiak. So if that turns out to be a match, then maybe Evero has himself an opportunity awaiting him back out west.
