Daboll

The Titans have agreed to terms with Brian Daboll to be the offensive coordinator for Robert Saleh’s first staff in Tennessee.

Daboll, who was fired last season as head coach of the New York Giants, would head up the offense and be tasked with mentoring Cam Ward, whom the Giants were high on in the pre-draft process in 2025, offering multiple draft picks to the Titans for the right to select the former Miami quarterback.

The Titans were steadfast in their commitment to draft Ward, and the Giants wound up selecting Abdul Carter at No. 3 overall and then trading back into the first round to select former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Daboll had interviewed for the head coaching positions in Buffalo and Las Vegas and was a finalist in both spots. The Bills hired Joe Brady on Tuesday, while the Raiders position remains open with Davis Webb and Klint Kubiak reportedly their other finalists.

Saleh and Daboll both have the distinction of having been former head coaches in New York before washing out. Saleh was 20-36 with the Jets before being fired five games into the 2024 season, while Daboll went 20-40-1 with the Giants before being dismissed 10 games into this past season.

In working with Ward, Daboll would be coaching a different type of quarterback than most of what he has worked with in recent years. Josh Allen, Daniel Jones, and even going back to his time in college as an offensive coordinator at Alabama with Jalen Hurts, has mostly been with dual threat quarterbacks.

Ward often showed a reluctance to run at times in his rookie season and was more of a pocket passer who used what mobility he had to buy more time to throw with rollouts.
