A new era began Thursday for the Tennessee Titans as the team officially introduced Robert Saleh as its next head coach.

The 47-year-old becomes the 22nd coach in Oilers/Titans history, and the eighth since the team moved to Nashville. Saleh noted in his introductory press conference that he’s not big on opening statements, but his excitement for his new team was made clear.

“It’s going to be fricking fun,” said Saleh. “We’re going to get after it day after day. We’re going to get better. We’re going to bring a championship home, and that’s going to start with you guys.”

Saleh was most recently in his second stint as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and comes to Nashville with 21 years of NFL coaching experience. He was the head coach of the New York Jets from 2021-2024, and despite finishing 20-36 in that span, Saleh is confident his second stint will be different.

“There’s no handbook for a first time at anything you do, you know, and what I would say, the proper question would be what didn’t I learn?” remarked Saleh. “There’s so much to gain from any time you’re in the chair as a head coach and there are so many learning experiences that I had, so I can sit here and talk to you for the next four hours about all those different things, but I can assure you that there was tremendous growth through the opportunity that I have with the Jets and through that growth, I think I’m more prepared now than I’ve ever been to attack this position.”

Saleh recently hired Brian Daboll as his offensive coordinator and will be retaining special teams coordinator John Fassel. Aside from rounding out the rest of his staff, Saleh will spend the next several weeks conducting player evaluations.
