Minter says Ravens’ next OC must build around “the best player.”

In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN, new Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter was asked what he’s looking for as he begins the search for his first offensive coordinator. Minter didn’t hesitate, offering a clear picture of the type of leader he wants running the offense — someone who can connect with players while still pushing the scheme forward.

“I think I’m looking for a connector and an innovator, and a scheme builder around the best player in the world,” Minter said.

That “best player” is, of course, Lamar Jackson, and Minter’s answer makes it clear the Ravens’ next offensive coordinator will be tasked with maximizing one of the league’s most dynamic talents. Building an offense around Jackson means tailoring the scheme to his strengths, evolving with him, and ensuring the entire unit is aligned with what makes him special. As Minter begins to shape his staff in Baltimore, the vision starts — and ends — with Lamar at its center.
