The New York Giants have reportedly requested to interview one of the Indianapolis Colts’ assistant coaches.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Giants would like to interview Colts‘ passing game coordinator Alex Tanney for their offensive coordinator opening.

This is a role that the Giants have been working to fill under new head coach John Harbaugh.

Along with Tanney, the Giants have also expressed interest in Colts’ offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.

As the title suggests, the passing game coordinator is tasked with helping design the passing attack each week, including play designs for specific situations, among other responsibilities.

Tanny has been in this role with the Colts for the last two seasons. Before that, he spent his first three seasons as a coach with the Philadelphia Eagles.

This includes being the offensive quality control coach and then working his way up to assistant quarterbacks coach and eventually quarterbacks coach in 2023.

Tanney was a quarterback for the Giants from 2018-2020.

Through the first half of the 2025 season, the Colts had one of the most productive passing offenses in the NFL. Even with their second-half slide, Indianapolis finished the year ranked ninth in yards per pass attempt.
