The New York Giants are set to interview Los Angeles Chargers quarterbacks coach Shane Day for their vacant offensive coordinator position on Saturday, reports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Day, 51, has built a reputation as one of the league’s top QB developers, notably contributing to Justin Herbert’s growth during his stints with the Chargers (2021–2022 and since 2024 under head coach Jim Harbaugh). He previously served as passing game coordinator in his first Chargers tenure.

Day’s extensive coaching resume spans multiple NFL teams, including two stops each with the San Francisco 49ers and Chargers, as well as the Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders, Miami Dolphins, and Houston Texans. He has held roles from offensive quality control to tight ends coach, but has never served as an offensive coordinator at the NFL level.

A Kansas State alum, Day began his career in high school and college coaching before entering the pros.

The Giants, under new head coach John Harbaugh, are moving swiftly to fill the offensive coordinator role, with Day joining a growing list of candidates that includes Alex Tanney, Jim Bob Cooter, and Davis Webb.

On social media, many Chargers fans are pleading with the Giants not to hire Day, expressing concern over losing a key contributor to their quarterback room and offensive staff.
