Alabama center Charles Bediako has the entire sports world in a frenzy after seeking temporary and permanent injunctive relief that would allow him to play the rest of the season for the Crimson Tide.

Bediako has spent the past three years in the G League and sued the NCAA earlier this month in an attempt to return to college, playing the past two games on a temporary restraining order.

Auburn coach Alex Golesh spoke about Bediako’s situation to members of the media during the Senior Bowl this week and even poked fun at the entire situation.

“I think college football is evolving so fast. And every single time there’s a situation like that, my antennas go up,” Golesh said Wednesday afternoon. “And I think with every change, or every ruling or lack of ruling, you’ve got an opportunity to either sit and complain about it, which I think we tend to, as coaches.

“I’ve always looked at it the other way,” Golesh added. “It’s like, man, where’s the loophole in here, who’s available out there that we can go get that fits what we do? But certainly fascinating from a legal side, fascinating. Yeah, how did it work out for him last weekend?”

Alabama lost to Tennessee at home in Bediako’s first game back. However, Alabama defeated Missouri Tuesday night and is 1-1 in the second Bediako era.

The next court hearing in the saga is set for Feb. 6, according to court documents obtained by AL.com, and addresses the temporary injunction in his NCAA eligibility lawsuit.

Alabama plays Auburn at Neville Arena on Feb. 7 in the first of two matchups between the schools this season.

Auburn football begins spring practices on March 17, with the A-Day Spring Game on April 18. This year’s A-Day game will follow a “traditional spring game format,” unlike last year’s open practice.
