The Arizona Cardinals’ coaching search is intensifying, with the team reportedly narrowing its focus.
Jonathan Gannon was fired earlier this month after posting a 15-36 record in three seasons, including a dismal 3-14 mark this past season. The campaign ended with a nine-game losing streak, in which Arizona allowed 37 or more points six times.
As the Cardinals continue their search, customers can buy contracts at Kalshi using the promo code ALCOM in hopes of predicting Gannon’s successor.
Top Cardinals head coaching candidates on Kalshi
Finalists have emerged as the Cardinals’ coaching search enters its fourth week. The Cardinals conducted a second interview with former Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver on Monday and are expected to do the same with Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, according to multiple reports.
That came on the heels of a report by The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, who said three lead candidates had emerged: LaFleur, Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile and former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris.
As rumors continue to swirl, Kalshi has implied probabilities ready to go for buying and selling contracts on Arizona’s search.
Here are the latest probabilities for Arizona’s next head coach on Kalshi
Mike LaFleur: 76%
Vance Joseph: 13%
Ron Rivera: 8%
Raheem Morris: 7%
Anthony Weaver: 4%
LaFleur — the younger brother of Packers head coach Matt LaFleur — has separated himself as the clear frontrunner to take over the Cardinals, according to Kalshi. The 38-year-old has been the Rams’ offensive coordinator since 2003. LaFleur does not call plays for the Rams but has a significant hand in game planning. Los Angeles led the NFL in yards per game (394.6) and scoring (30.5).
While the Cardinals certainly could opt for an offensive mind to pair with underperforming quarterback Kyler Murray, who is under contract through 2028, there’s no ruling out the possibility of Arizona going with a defensive-driven coach like Vance Joseph.
Joseph, 53, served as the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator from 2019 to 2022 before leaving for the same role with the Broncos. This past season, the Broncos led the NFL in sacks (68) and allowed the second-fewest points per game (18.3).
Joseph was also previously a head coach for the Broncos (2017-2018). While he was fired after just two seasons, he is experienced and has familiarity with the Cardinals’ organization.
How do you trade on Kalshi?
Kalshi does not operate like a traditional sportsbook. Instead, it allows customers to buy and sell contracts for real-world events like Pro Football games, presidential elections, and much more.
Kalshi prices are based primarily on market trends, with users trading “yes” or “no” contracts that pay out $1 if correct.
How does that work? Using Joseph as an example, let’s say you bought 100 contracts of the Cardinals hiring the Broncos defensive coordinator at 13% ($0.13 per contract). If Joseph ends up being the guy, you will get back $100 for a net profit of $87.
