The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t just hire an offensive coordinator, they built a pairing. Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie just pulled off some shit that only elite NFL organizations do. They corrected the Kevin Patullo issue by bringing in essentially two offensive coordinator’s who are both way better at their jobs than him.
Less than 24 hours after bringing in Sean Mannion to run the offense, the Eagles reportedly added former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard as pass game coordinator. It’s a move that tells you everything about how Nick Sirianni wants this offense to evolve: layered, collaborative, and unapologetically quarterback-centric.
Eagles hire Josh Grizzard

His NFL journey started back in 2012 as a Panthers front office intern — the kind of foot-in-the-door job that weeds out pretenders quickly. From there, he climbed the ladder the hard way: Duke, Miami, and eventually Tampa Bay, where he became one of the league’s more respected behind-the-scenes offensive minds.
By 2024, Grizzard was Tampa’s passing game coordinator. In 2025, he was promoted to offensive coordinator, and if you watched any of the Buccaneers games over the last few years, you can see why.
Baker Mayfield had a career year in 2024 when Grizzard was the team’s passing game coordinator. Throwing for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.
Why Grizzard Makes Sense Next to Sean Mannion
This is where it gets interesting.
Mannion brings:
Quarterback development experience
West Coast/Shanahan-adjacent concepts
A calm, detail-oriented approach
Grizzard complements that with:
Route concept sequencing
Defensive identification in the pass game
Weekly matchup-based game planning
In plain English? Mannion sets the menu. Grizzard fine-tunes the dishes.

The Eagles aren’t asking Grizzard to be the guy again, they’re asking him to be a specialist, and that’s where coaches often do their best work.
And after the total confusing mess that was the Eagles offense last year, having two, bright football minds collaborating, should be music to all of our ears.
