NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis led the team’s contingent to Mobile for this week’s Senior Bowl workout while addressing several key offseason decisions facing the organization.
As the Saints coaching staff and front office observed draft prospects, Loomis discussed the status of several players from the 2025 team, including veteran linebacker DeMario Davis, who indicated he would be open to testing the free agent market in March.
“Yeah, I haven’t seen that. I heard it. Yeah, I love DeMario. You know, I want him to be back and hope he’s back, but yeah, we’ll get through that,” said Loomis.
Taysom Hill’s future uncertain
Another veteran facing questions is Taysom Hill, also a free agent, with uncertainty about whether he will continue playing or retire next season.
Loomis said he is giving Hill time to make his decision.
“I’ve given him some space, so we’ll touch base with him soon. But it’s hard to have these conversations right after the end of a season. You know, you want that emotion to go out of it and give guys some time and space and not feel like they’re pressured to make decisions. And we’ve got time,” said Loomis.
Bresee fifth-year option decision pending
Defensive tackle Brian Bresee enters his fourth season with the Saints, which means the team must decide whether to pick up his fifth-year option as a former first-round pick.
Loomis said a decision has not been made but will be addressed.
“Yeah, you know, we’ll get to that. We haven’t just, you know, we haven’t, again, we just, you know, we’re early in the process here, and timing’s a little different this year because of the number of people we have in this game, but we’ll get to that soon,” said Loomis.
Last offseason, the Saints picked up the fifth-year option on Chris Olave but declined to do so on former offensive lineman Trevor Penning. The team has until May 1st to make their decision on Brzee.
