The Seattle Seahawks seemed destined to lose offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. This is one of the more unfortunate aspects of a Super Bowl run, as other teams want a slice of the success and pillage their coaching staffs. On Thursday, it was reported Kubiak would be interviewing again with the Las Vegas Raiders and is considered a “favorite” for the position. Now it seems all but inevitable.

During a Friday morning episode of The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Kubiak is essentially all but confirmed to get either the Las Vegas Raiders or Arizona Cardinals head coaching job.

If I was Kubiak, and I had my pick, there’s no chance I’m going with Arizona over Las Vegas. The Raiders have been largely dysfunctional for decades now, but the opportunity to draft the top quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick and a blank slate to make a team in your own image? Man, that is too good an opportunity to turn down. Arizona is a mess, top to bottom, and the quarterback situation is murky at best. Plus, Kubiak knows what the NFC West is like, and he probably doesn’t want to be stuck in the basement behind Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Yes, the AFC West isn’t a peach either. Denver, Kansas City and the Chargers are all well coached with strong rosters. But it feels far more winnable than the NFC West, and the AFC as a whole isn’t nearly as competitive as the NFC.

This is a developing situation, and Seahawks Wire will update you accordingly.
