Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb withdrew from the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coaching search, according to Luca Evans and Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post.
Webb is now considered a “prime candidate” to be promoted to the Broncos’ offensive coordinator position, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Denver has also interviewed Washington Commanders assistant head coach and offensive passing game coordinator Brian Johnson for the team’s vacancy at offensive coordinator.
The Broncos met with Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach Ronald Curry for the position as well, per Gabriel.
Denver’s search for a new offensive coordinator under head coach Sean Payton began when the team fired Joe Lombardi on Tuesday.
The Broncos earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC postseason picture with a 14-3 record and advanced to the conference championship game, but their offense lagged behind their stellar defense during the regular season.
Denver ranked No. 14 among all NFL teams in scoring offense, averaging 23.6 points on a weekly basis.
Still, it’s understandable that Webb is a candidate for a promotion considering his work with Broncos signal-caller Bo Nix.
Nix ended his 2025 campaign with 3,931 pass yards, the eighth-most among all quarterbacks. He also completed 63.4 percent of his throws and tossed 25 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions.
Webb has been a hot commodity during the current hiring cycle, as he underwent two rounds of interviews with the Raiders. He also reportedly received interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens for their offensive coordinator positions.
As for Johnson, he’s spent the past two seasons with Washington after serving as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator in 2023. While Philadelphia ended that season with a disappointing blowout loss in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, it still ranked No. 7 in the NFL by averaging 25.5 points per game.
Webb could be the Broncos’ choice if they’re searching for an internal option, though.
