Even though the Bears’ season was cut short and they came up short of a chance at a Super Bowl this season, it is hard to look at this season as anything other than a success. A big reason for the Bears’ success this season was the level at which former Trojan Caleb Williams played in his second year. Now, Caleb Williams might not have played like an MVP candidate like his classmate Drake Maye this season, but he left just as much room to be excited about him moving forward.

The Bears used to be a franchise where quarterbacks went to die, but it seems as if Caleb Williams is turning around each and every poor narrative about this franchise in the past. The Bears taking down the Packers twice in one season has not happened in an NFL season in quite some time. Everything about this franchise is turning around because the Bears now have their guy.

Jay Cutler was nice, he had some productive seasons, yet he and no other Bears quarterback has ever achieved the feat of passing for 4k yards. Caleb was just off by 58 passing yards in his second season. Still, this season, he broke the record for single-season passing yards by a Chicago Bears quarterback. He has given hope to a franchise that has not had hope at the most important position on the team.

Ben Johnson coming into this franchise was a huge addition, and he did change things around quickly. He became one of the best coaches in the NFL in just one season. The biggest reason for his coming to Chicago was Caleb Williams. As soon as the job became open, there was no other job he wanted more. Caleb Williams made him look like he made the right decision in their first year together.

Caleb Williams, after a frustrating rookie season, has many going as far as to call him a bust. He has turned just about every doubter into a believer. Caleb Williams proved to be one of the most clutch players in the NFL. 7 game winning drives, beating the Packers twice, winning the NFC North, and making it to the divisional round is as good as it has gotten for a Bears quarterback in year 2. The fact that Bears fans were able to be disappointed they missed out on a chance to make it to the NFC Championship game goes to show things are very different in Chicago.

Caleb Williams, in his second year, threw for 3942 yards passing, 27 passing touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and ran for almost 400 yards and 3 more touchdowns. His numbers weren’t amazing in the playoffs, but everyone watching the Bears’ games knew they were watching an amazing talent.

Caleb Williams, year 2, was undoubtedly a success. The city of Chicago has fully rallied behind him, and any talk about past quarterbacks like Justin Fields has simply vanished. Caleb Williams is now the franchise quarterback, and there is now no doubt in Bears fans ‘ minds that he will be the one to bring this franchise back to their glory days.
