Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo.
If you want to start revamping the Baltimore Ravens by position groups, there’s an easy place to start on both sides of the ball.
On defense, it’s at edge rusher. On offense, it’s on the offensive line, where the struggles were multiple and pronounced in a season where the Ravens finished 8-9 and missed the postseason despite entering the year as Super Bowl favorites.
Pro Football Focus predicts the Ravens will prioritize the offensive line in free agency and focus specifically on 6-foot-4, 303-pound Pittsburgh Steelers guard Isaac Seumalo.
Seumalo, 32 years old, won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles following the 2017 season and was a Pro Bowler with the Steelers in 2024.
“The Ravens are in the process of assembling their staff under Jesse Minter, and defensive standouts from Los Angeles very well may follow him to Baltimore,” PFF’s Bradley Locker wrote. “However, the Ravens also desperately need help at guard after owning the 26th-ranked grade at the position this year. Seumalo enjoyed a terrific season for the Steelers with a 73.3 overall PFF grade. The former Eagle especially shined in pass protection, permitting just 20 pressures with a 76.4 PFF pass-blocking grade. The 32-year-old would offer an instant upgrade over either Daniel Faalele or Andrew Vorhees.”
Seumalo Has Long History of Doing Dirty Work
The Ravens need players like Seumalo in the fold under Minter, and it would be especially nice to steal him from a hated AFC North rival like the Steelers.
Seumalo was a third round pick (No. 79 overall) by the Eagles out of Oregon State in the 2016 NFL draft, won a Super Bowl in his second NFL season and played in another Super Bowl following the 2022 season. He signed a 3-year, $24 million free agent contract with the Steelers before the 2023 season and has $44.8 million in career earnings through the end of the 2025 season.
Spotrac projects Seumalo is in line to receive a 3-year, $28.8 million free agent contract.
Faalele Arguably NFL’s Worst Offensive Lineman
The Ravens got put on blast this season for their offensive line play. That seemed to come to a head with the 6-foot-8, 370-pound Faalele’s performance in a 27-22 loss to the Steelers in Week 14.
Pro Football Hall of Famer and legendary Ravens tight end Shannon Sharpe went out of his way to call Faalele out after the game.
“(Faalele) can’t block the sun out of his eyes, let alone a defensive lineman,” Sharpe said on The Nightcap Podcast on Sunday, December 7. “You shouldn’t be allowed to be that big and sorry. He’s as big as he is sorry … on film, he’s always at the scene of the crime.”
Terrible Play Leads to Rare Outburst From Jackson
Seumalo might not be the only new offensive lineman the Ravens need to bring in as the group, as a whole, failed at protecting Baltimore’s most valuable asset in 2-time NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Jackson missed 4 games due to injuries in 2025 and rarely seemed like he had time to throw in the pocket.
Those struggles even led to a rare emotional outburst from Jackson, who confronted Faalele on the sideline following an interception in the loss to the Steelers.
