Giants’ head coach John Harbaugh is promoting Chad Hall to the wide receivers coach role on his staff
The New York Giants have been hard at work early on this offseason. After firing head coach Brian Daboll midway through the 2025 campaign, the team made an aggressive push to bring former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh to town. The move worked, and now that Harbaugh is hired, he has begun building out his coaching staff with the Giants.
Many folks expected Todd Monken to be the first coach added to Harbaugh’s staff, but he surprisingly ended up landing the Cleveland Browns‘ head coach gig. As a result, Harbaugh has had to restart his search for a new offensive coordinator, but before he hires a coach to fill that role, he decided to promote one of the coaches from the old regime, former NFL wide receiver Chad Hall.

Typically, when a team hires a new head coach, they replace the prior coaching staff with guys they want to work with. Sometimes, though, guys from the prior regime will stick around, and it appears as if Hall is one of the few guys who will be staying with the Giants as the Harbaugh regime takes over.
Hall spent five years in the NFL as a wide receiver before transitioning into coaching. While Hall doesn’t have any direct ties to Harbaugh, he did play for his brother, Jim, as a member of the San Francisco 49ers back in 2012. As a result, you can bet John got some background info on Hall from Jim before deciding to keep him in town.
In his first season with New York, Hall worked as the team’s assistant quarterbacks coach. With Harbaugh in town now, Hall isn’t just sticking with the Giants, but it appears as if he will be getting a promotion. According to reports, Hall is set to be Harbaugh’s wide receivers coach for New York in the 2026 campaign and beyond.

John Harbaugh Still Has Work to Do with Giants’ Coaching Staff

It’s a bit interesting to see Hall will be sticking around with the Giants, especially since Harbaugh has yet to hire an offensive coordinator. Regardless, his billing as an up-and-coming coach clearly earned him a fan in Harbaugh, and he will now have a shot to make his mark in a bigger role on the offensive side of the ball for New York next season.
And yet, Harbaugh still has a lot of work to do when it comes to finalizing his coaching staff. The offensive coordinator is the biggest position that needs to be filled, as former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson was hired to be New York’s new defensive coordinator. Things are beginning to come together, though, and it looks like Hall is a coach on the rise as he embarks on a new role with the Giants.
