New Orleans Saints tight end Foster Moreau grew up in New Orleans, attended Jesuit High School, and went on to star with the LSU Tigers. The Oakland Raiders selected Moreau with a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He played his first four seasons with the Raiders before getting a chance to hit the free agent market.

After a health scare in 2023, Moreau returned to his hometown Saints. He caught 53 passes for 606 yards and 6 touchdowns in his first two years in New Orleans while being the team’s best blocking tight end. With the hiring of a new coach Kellen Moore last offseason, there was some questions how Moreau would fit in his new offense. Here’s how it turned out.

New Orleans did nothing to upgrade the tight end position last offseason. This meant that Moreau and Juwan Johnson would continue to be the top two options at the position for Moore. After suffering an ACL injury in last year’s season finale, however, Moreau would begin the 2025 campaign on the Saints PUP list.

Moreau would be activated and see his first action in Week 5 against the Giants. He’d catch his first pass the following week against New England, but only had that one reception in his first five games. In fact, Moreau only had as many as two catches in two games and was held without a reception in six of his eleven contests. He’s never been a big factor in the passing game, but really wasn’t even an afterthought in 2025.

Foster Moreau had 7 receptions on 10 targets for 59 yards and no touchdowns this season. Those numbers, along with his 253 offensive snaps, were the lowest of his seven-year career. Moreau is a free agent. Although the Saints need an upgrade at the position to go along with Juwan Johnson, it’s hard to imagine the team making an offer to bring Moreau back. Even with his blocking skills, New Orleans will likely look for more of a two-way threat at tight end.
