After serving as offensive coordinator for Ben Johnson’s NFC North-winning Chicago Bears in 2025, former Iowa football student assistant Declan Doyle is taking his expertise to the East Coast as the Baltimore Ravens‘ new offensive coordinator, joining newly-hired Ravens head coach Jesse Minter’s staff.

Doyle served as a student staffer under head coach Kirk Ferentz across three seasons in Iowa City from 2016-18, where he assisted the Hawkeyes’ offense and offensive coordinators Greg Davis (2016) and Brian Ferentz (2017-18).

Before his offensive coordinator role with the Bears last season, the former Hawkeye served as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints from 2019-22 and as tight ends coach with the Denver Broncos from 2023-24.

Declan Doyle is the son of former Iowa strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle.

With quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry among the Ravens’ offensive weapons, Doyle will certainly have the talent to catapult Baltimore into an instant contender in the AFC North during Minter’s first year as head coach.

For Iowa’s sake, Doyle is yet another example of how Kirk Ferentz’s wisdom has enabled another former assistant to climb the coaching ladder at the professional level.
