As an organization, the Tennessee Titans are about to shift gears from a coaching search to roster building, and there is a lot to do.

The Titans need an influx of talent across the board, and general manager Mike Borgonzi intends to continue building the only way he knows how: through detailed research and evaluation. He recently sat down with Taylor Zarzour to break down some of the plans to get the Titans back on track.

“When you start to build a roster, you want to get the best possible players.” Borgonzi said, “But there’s also going to be a strategy to it, where some of the needs are. That’s what we’re working through right now as the staff comes in, and we’ll have them evaluate the roster.”

Looking from the outside, the Titans appear to have significant needs at cornerback, edge, and wide receiver. Not to mention quality depth across the roster. Now, how they fill those needs is something different. Borgonzi intends to populate a free-agency board and a draft board and compare the two to determine where the best return on investment will be.

The process appeared to work last offseason. By all accounts, the Titans’ moves worked and improved the talent at multiple positions, but it was nowhere near enough. To hear all of Borgonzi’s thoughts on Robert Saleh, Cam Ward, and the draft check out the enture interview.
