NFL free agency is still more than a month away, but Denver Broncos fans are already daydreaming about a potential spending spree.

Two years ago, the Broncos were “constrained” in free agency after eating Russell Wilson’s contract. Last year, they were still eating some of Wilson’s leftover cap hit, and the team was “measured” in free agency.

Now that Wilson’s contract is finally off the books, will Denver be aggressive this spring?

“In terms of free agency, I always look at it as… I get a little worried about just the pure phrase of ‘aggressive,’ because you can be aggressive, but you want to do it in a smart way,” team owner and CEO Greg Penner said during his end-of-season press conference last week.

“So again, we’ll be willing to spend if we see something that — we see a player that we think is going to add a lot of value here. We’ll definitely take an aggressive approach, but we’re also not just going to bring in somebody that’s not right for this locker room. There’ll be a lot of factors that we consider. I’d say we’ll be opportunistically aggressive.”

The Broncos are projected to have about $25.5 million to $30 million in available salary cap space, and they could create more with restructures and roster cuts. After reaching the AFC Championship game in 2025, Denver’s pursuing a Super Bowl in 2026, and we could see some splashes this spring as the team retools the roster.
