Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero may have lost out on his last chance, at least here in 2026, to become an NFL head coach.

According to NFL Network insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, the Las Vegas Raiders are expected to hire Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their next head coach. Evero, who interviewed twice with the Raiders, has been considered a finalist for the job.

Evero has drawn interest from three teams this offseason regarding their head-coaching positions. In addition to Las Vegas, he also spoke with the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers—who have since hired former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, respectively.

If Kubiak is indeed headed to the Raiders, the lone head-coaching vacancy in the league would belong to the Arizona Cardinals—who have not been linked to Evero. Arizona has, however, interviewed former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera.

As announced by current Panthers head coach Dave Canales back on Jan. 11, Evero reached a contract extension with the organization prior to the 2025 campaign. The new deal, per Joe Person of The Athletic, will take him through 2027.
