The NFL’s free agency period is always exciting. From the legal tampering period through the first week of free agency is a flurry of players signing contracts, most of which will land with new teams for various reasons. Every team has its own needs, and will pursue the players it thinks fit those needs.

Recently, Pro Football Focus released a list of one player that each team should pursue in free agency. While most analysts and experts suggest defensive players, PFF has a different idea.

Tennessee Titans: WR Wan’Dale RobinsonPFF Free Agent Rank: No. 51

The Titans have their next leaders established in the form of head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. The next step will be enhancing multiple spots along the roster, with more necessary at receiver.

Robinson stood out during a trying season for the Giants with a 69.8 PFF receiving grade and a career-high 1.87 yards per route run. He also ranked in the 82nd percentile in separation rate, reflecting his suddenness and solid route-running. Tennessee placed 27th in team receiving grade in Cameron Ward’s rookie season, but getting Robinson to occupy the slot again for Daboll could ameliorate that.

Here’s the thing about Wan’Dale Robinson: There’s no way the Giants can afford to let him leave. He is vital to the development of Jaxson Dart, so it’s hard to say if Robinson will even hit the free agency market. But if he does, the Titans could use more talent and experience at wide receiver. Calvin Ridley is the most veteran receiver the Titans have, while the rest will either be free agents or are entering their second year in the league.

Robinson’s experience would be a nice addition to the Titans’ wide receivers’ room, and he is talented enough to be a reliable target for Cam Ward. Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike need a chance to develop the skills they have, and adding a veteran to the room will only help them reach their potential. But the Giants have to let him hit the free agency market for this to happen.
