The changes for the AFC and NFC rosters for the Pro Bowl Games continued into Sunday, but the NFL has released the final lineup for the Tuesday night event.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is one of the late replacements. The former Alabama signal-caller is going to the Pro Bowl Games as the replacement for Sam Darnold, who will lead the Seattle Seahawks into Super Bowl LX on Sunday.
In all, the NFC replaced seven of its original 44 selections, and the AFC replaced nine of its original 44 selections. Five of the replacements came at quarterback.
The original Pro Bowl rosters were determined by the votes of fans, coaches and players, with each component counting as one-third of a player’s score.
Hurts earned Pro Bowl selection to the original roster in 2022 and 2023 via the voting process. Hurts did not make the Pro Bowl last season but instead earned the MVP Award for Super Bowl LIX as the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.
Another player with Alabama football roots who is at the Pro Bowl Games as a replacement is Houston Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter. A prep star at American Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa, Lassiter filled the roster spot left vacant by cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who will play for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
Hurts and Lassiter join the six players from Alabama high schools and colleges selected to the Pro Bowl Games rosters through the voting process:
Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (Alabama)Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (Clay-Chalkville)Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (Alabama)Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens (Hoover)Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (Alabama)Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (Wenonah, Alabama)
The Pro Bowl Games will culminate with a flag-football contest featuring the all-stars at 7 p.m. CST Tuesday at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. ESPN, Disney XD and ESPN Deportes will televise the event.
