A former Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl-winning running back has passed away. He was 72 years old.

Scott Laidlaw, a former Dallas Cowboys fullback in the 1970s, passed away. He was teammates with the great Roger Staubach. Laidlaw was part of Dallas’ famed 1975 “Dirty Dozen” rookie class.

He was part of the team that won Super Bowl XII.

ABC 8 in Dallas confirmed the tragic news.

“Scott Laidlaw, a former Dallas Cowboys fullback in the 1970s, has died. He was 72. Laidlaw’s family confirmed his death to WFAA,” they reported.

“Nearly a month before his death, Laidlaw was honored alongside his fellow “Dirty Dozen” teammates during a Cowboys home game in December, a recognition of their role in helping shape the franchise into America’s Team.”

NFL fans are paying tribute to the iconic running back.

“RIP Scott Laidlaw 🙏🏈⭐ Sad news to report: Scott Laidlaw passed away on Thursday, his family informs me. A member of the Cowboys 1975 Dirty Dozen rookie class, Laidlaw played FB/RB for Dallas from ’75-’79 including Super Bowl XII & XIII. Prayers to his loved ones. He was 72,” one NFL fan wrote.
