Matthew Stafford was one of four Los Angeles Rams players selected to the 2026 Pro Bowl Games this year but he won’t be participating – despite being named a starter for the NFC squad. He’s dropped out of the Pro Bowl and been replaced by Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

This time of year, players often decline invitations after being selected, either due to other obligations or injuries. It’s unclear the reasoning for Stafford’s withdrawal, but considering how long the Rams’ season was, no one could blame him if he just wanted a break from football.

The Rams will have three other players still participating in the Pro Bowl Games in San Francisco on Tuesday night.

This season, Stafford threw a league-high 46 touchdown passes and also led the NFL with 4,707 yards through the air. He was named a first-team All-Pro and the PFWA MVP, turning in the best season of his career thus far.

The Pro Bowl Games will take place on Tuesday night in San Francisco, with various skills challenges followed by a 7-on-7 flag football game. It will be broadcast on ESPN, starting at 8:15 p.m. ET.
