Justin Jefferson

The Buffalo Bills are entering the 2026 NFL offseason with one significant task at hand, and that is to get the wide receiver issue resolved. With Joe Brady, an offensive-minded guy, taking over as the head coach after Buffalo fired Sean McDermott, it is clear this is an area he will look to fix early on.

*Prediction*

With Brady now the head coach, there is one side receiver who has appeared in limited trade discussions over the past season that makes sense for Buffalo to look to acquire. This wide receiver has a connection already with Brady, and it is Justin Jefferson.

Minnesota Vikings Trade Justin Jefferson to Buffalo Bills

For a Super Bowl-contending team like the Buffalo Bills, it only makes sense for them to make a blockbuster trade for a wide receiver to fix this issue on offense. There are plenty of wide receivers the Bills could look to trade for, but the one that makes the most sense is Justin Jefferson.

Why Would the Minnesota Vikings Trade Justin Jefferson

With Justin Jefferson being one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, it might seem bizarre that the Vikings would even consider trading him. The thought stems from the fact that the Vikings took a step back last season as a team. They still finished with a 9-8 record, but they missed the NFL Playoffs, and saw JJ McCarthy struggle immensely.

McCarthy as supposed to be their franchise quarterback moving forward, but the issues he showed last season raised more questions than it did reassure Minnesota that they made the right pick. Trading Justin Jefferson then becomes beneficial for the Vikings in multiple ways.

The first being, it is only a matter of time before Jefferson becomes disgruntled and asks for a trade, so trading him now avoids any unnecessary drama. Secondly, it would also give them the draft capital needed to draft or trade for a better quarterback who can actually be their long-term solution.

Justin Jefferson’s Impact on the Buffalo Bills

Upon trading for Justin Jefferson, he would immediately slot in as the best wide receiver on the Bills. Jefferson would benefit greatly from having an established quarterback like Josh Allen throwing him the ball, just as much as Allen would benefit from having an elite wide receiver to throw to in any situation like Jefferson.

Joe Brady also already knows Justin Jefferson’s strengths from their time at LSU together. This would allow Jefferson to transition seamlessly into Brady’s offense in Buffalo.

Adding Jefferson would take pressure off Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman, allowing them more time to develop. Jefferson has already produced 8,480 yards and 42 touchdowns over his career, and that’s with less talented quarterbacks throwing him the ball. Jefferson’s talents would further be highlighted in Buffalo, making this an idea trade all around.
