The Baltimore Ravens are set to hire former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver as their new defensive coordinator under Jesse Minter, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Weaver, a former Ravens player and coach, had been a candidate for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ravens head coaching positions. Weaver was one of the Steelers’ three in-person interviews.

Weaver also interviewed with the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills for their head coach positions.

Weaver faced the Steelers for years as a player and a coach for the Ravens. He was a defensive end for the Ravens from 2002-2005 before playing three seasons with the Houston Texans.

Following his playing career, he served as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida in 2010 and then as a linebackers coach at North Texas in 2011.

Weaver was a defensive line coach for several NFL teams before returning to the Ravens in 2021. He was Baltimore’s defensive line coach and run game coordinator. He was then promoted to assistant head coach in 2022 while still holding the position of DL coach.

Weaver joined Mike McDaniel’s staff in 2024 as Miami’s defensive coordinator. It was the first time that Weaver held a DC job. McDaniel was fired as the Dolphins head coach following the 2025 season, which left Weaver seeking a new opportunity.

Miami’s points allowed went from 22nd to 10th in his first year, before sliding back down to 25th in 2025.
