Could Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive end Travon Walker be in store for a new contract in 2026?

That was the question that Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco recently asked.

GM James Gladstone picked up Walker’s fifth-year option last offseason. This means that he is playing the 2026 season on a one-year contract. This deal is fully guaranteed and is worth $15.19 million.

So what might a new deal look like? Here is what DiRocco had to say.

“A better comparison could be the extension that teammate Josh Hines-Allen signed in April 2024: five years, $141.25 million with $88 million guaranteed,” DiRocco wrote. “That’s $28.25 million annually, which ranks ninth among edge rushers. Hines-Allen has 40.5 sacks since 2022, including 17.5 in 2023.”

Injuries this past season limited Walker to 14 games and 12 starts. Throughout his career, he hasn’t produced at the same level as the game’s top pass rushers, but he’s provided a very reliable and impactful presence against both the run and the pass.

During Gladstone’s end-of-season press conference, he mentioned that one of the things he appreciates about Travon Walker is how much he cares about his teammates and being a part of the Jaguars’ organization.

“He’s someone we want to align ourselves with moving forward,” Gladstone said.

Again, Walker is under contract this season, so no immediate decisions have to be made. However, this will be something worth watching over the coming months.
