Stefon Diggs’ time with the Bills may not have come to a pleasant end, but he still has a lot of love for his former quarterback, Josh Allen

The Buffalo Bills have undergone quite a bit of change early on this offseason. Head coach Sean McDermott got the boot after another failed playoff run, with offensive coordinator Joe Brady being promoted to replace him as the team’s new leader. Brady has quickly begun filling out his coaching staff, and there’s reason to believe this group will be able to lead the Bills to more success in 2026.

First, the 2025 campaign needs to come to an end, and Buffalo fans won’t have to look far to find a familiar face in Super Bowl LX. That’s because one of their former players, star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, has helped the New England Patriots find their way to the big game. Diggs’ time with the Bills came to an abrupt end, but it’s clear he still has love for his former quarterback, Josh Allen.

Stefon Diggs Gushes Over Josh Allen

“Keep hanging your head on that quarterback. That quarterback is a hall of famer … I know there not huge fans of me at this point”

In 2020, the Bills acquired Diggs in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, giving Allen a de facto No. 1 wide receiver in the passing game. This duo promptly took the league by storm, as Diggs enjoyed the most productive four-season stretch of his career while playing for Buffalo. Diggs finished every year he spent with the Bills with at least 100 receptions, 1,150 yards, and eight touchdowns.

Towards the end of his tenure with the team, Diggs began to become more frustrated with the state of the offense, as he felt he should be getting the ball more in the air. Allen’s propensity for spreading the ball around was a change of pace, and while Diggs still received 160 targets in 2023, it felt like his time with the team had run its course. Sure enough, he was traded to the Houston Texans ahead of the 2024 campaign.

After one season there, Diggs signed with the Patriots over the offseason, meaning he would face his former team twice in 2025. While the belief is that there’s some bad blood between Diggs and the Bills, he recently revealed that’s not the case. In fact, he even went out of his way to issue some high praise for Allen, labeling him a future Hall of Famer.

“Keep hanging your hat on that quarterback,” Diggs said of Allen. “That quarterback is a Hall of Fame quarterback.”

While moving on from Diggs was done in an effort to open up the Bills’ offense, it has ended up putting a massive strain on Allen under center. Nobody else has really stepped up to become his top target in the air, which has come back to bite the team in their first two seasons since Diggs’ departure.

One of the front office’s main goals this offseason is surely going to involve finding a top-tier wide receiver that can lead the way in the passing game for Buffalo. There will surely be options available for the team, both in free agency and on the trade market, but first, the Bills and their fans are going to see if Diggs can earn the first Super Bowl championship of his standout career.
