The BC Lions made a move to boost their receiving group on Tuesday, as the team announced the signing of Marquez Callaway.

The 27-year-old wide receiver spent five seasons in the National Football League, appearing in 47 games – 45 of them with the New Orleans Saints – from 2020-24.

He attended training camp with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers in 2025, but was not elevated to the active roster. He also made stops with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (appeared in two games in 2024) and Pittsburgh Steelers (practice squad in 2024).

Callaway joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2020, where he caught 21 passes for 213 yards over 11 games. He had a breakout campaign in his sophomore season, where he caught 46 passes for 698 yards and six touchdowns.

Over his NFL career, the native of Warner Robins, GA caught 83 passes for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns.

Callaway will now get a chance to catch passes from reigning Most Outstanding Player Nathan Rourke, who is coming off a record-setting season in 2025 in which he threw for the most yards in a single season (5,290) by a Canadian quarterback in league history.

He joins a star-studded cast of receivers in BC that includes last year’s league leader in receiving yards in Keon Hatcher (1,688), Justin McInnis, Jevon Cottoy and Stanley Berryhill.
