The Bills have hired Bo Hardegree to come work with Josh Allen as their new quarterbacks coach
The Buffalo Bills did not have the playoff run they were hoping for once again in 2025, and that has led to widespread changes across their coaching staff. After promoting Joe Brady from offensive coordinator to head coach, Brady has quickly moved to revamp his coaching staff, and it looks like he’s assembling an All-Star cast to come work for him.
Moving on from Sean McDermott and replacing him with Brady was a bit of a surprising move, but Brady is proving that he means business. As for his latest order of business, he made an eye-opening addition to his coaching staff involving former Tennessee Titans‘ quarterback coach Bo Hardegree that will certainly catch the attention of Josh Allen.
Bills Hire Bo Hardegree to Be New Quarterbacks Coach
In an effort to get the Bills over the hump, Brady is attempting to change the culture of the team. That starts with building a coaching staff full of like-minded individuals who will help him push his message to the team. Beyond that, since this is his first head coaching gig in the NFL, Brady is going to need guys he can rely on to help him navigate the twists and turns that come with this new job.
The newest addition to Brady’s staff is Hardegree, who is a skilled offensive assistant. Hardegree has spent the past decade bouncing around the league in various offensive coaching roles. Most notably, he’s worked as the quarterbacks coach for the Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, and Titans, while also briefly serving as the Raiders’ interim offensive coordinator in 2023.
Hardegree spent last season working with the no. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Cam Ward. While it was a bit of an uneven season for Ward, that was largely due to the supporting cast he was working with. Now, he will be without Hardegree, as he will be teaming up with the Bills to work with Allen and the rest of the team’s quarterbacks in 2026.
“The Bills are hiring former Titans QB coach Bo Hardegree as their new QB coach, sources say,” Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported in a post on X. “Hardegree was coveted for this role and an elevated one around the league, but chose Joe Brady and OC Pete Carmichael. After helping Cam Ward, he’ll work with Josh Allen.”

Brady certainly had his work cut out for him after getting hired to be the Bills’ new head coach, but he’s identified coaches he wants to bring to town, and for the most part, he’s managed to do what it takes to add them to his staff. It’s certainly an encouraging start to the offseason, especially when considering the frustrating manner in which Buffalo’s 2025 campaign came to an end.
Of course, this is only the first step in what figures to be a very hectic offseason for the Bills. The next order of business will involve beefing up the roster, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, where Allen could use some more help. Assuming the front office can accomplish that goal, Buffalo will almost certainly return to action as one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the league next season.
