This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke with ESPN writer and host Mina Kimes.
In her interview with Easton Jr., Kimes discussed her partnership with P&G as their style strategist, spotlighting the at-home MVPs of Super Bowl Sunday by recognizing the different “positions” people naturally play when they come together for the big game. She also referenced the Kansas City Chiefs‘ experience as Super Bowl favorites, highlighting the potential burden that comes with it.
“So P&G put together what they call, like the ‘Super Bowl Sunday roster’, and the idea being everybody has a job to play, similar to NFL teams, and I am the style strategist,” said Kimes, “The Captain is Tyler Shough, who is lovely. My role is as described, but it also means my products are ‘Olay Moisturizer’, which I use, and ‘Head and Shoulders Shampoo’, which I also use, and, sort of, similar thinking that they can be part of your game-day roster.”
The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots are set to face off on Sunday for Super Bowl LX. Kimes weighed in on the big game and her thoughts on Drake Maye’s recent playoff struggles.
“I think it’s an intriguing matchup, because Drake (Maye) was incredible during the regular season. It’s almost like the Patriots’ offense and defense have flipped. The offense really carried them through the regular season, but in the postseason, it’s been the defense that’s taken them. The offense has struggled,” said Kimes, “I think a lot of those struggles have had to do with opponents, tough defenses, horrible weather. I wouldn’t be surprised if Maye looks better in the Super Bowl than he has in the postseason thus far, even though the Seahawks defense is very good as well.”

Seattle enters the game as the favorite, but those high expectations don’t guarantee a victory, a lesson she mentions learned from the Chiefs last year in their stunning loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Top to bottom, Seattle, to me, looks like the more complete team. I think their favorites for a reason, and that can add (some stress), (who) knows this Kansas City, can add some stress if you’re supposed to be the favorite and everyone expects you to win, whereas New England, it kind of feels like they’re ahead of schedule and they’re playing with house money.”
