The Hall of Fame induction of San Francisco 49ers legend Roger Craig may just have been leaked on a morning sports talk show.Kay Adams, the host of the “Up & Adams” show, did her first live episode from radio row in the Moscone Center with a slate of NFL guests that included 49ers owner Jed York. After she asked him about George Kittle’s injury and Kyle Shanahan’s Coach of the Year eligibility, she brought up potential Hall of Famers who played in red and gold: Frank Gore and Roger Craig. After listing Gore’s on-field accomplishments and noting that he wasn’t yet enshrined in Canton, Ohio, she then added: “But Roger Craig did finally, well-deserved, get into the Hall of Fame. What are your thoughts?”York’s response didn’t exactly confirm the induction, although he did wax poetic about Craig’s character and impact on the sport.“Roger’s been waiting for so, so long,” York said. “I can’t think of anybody who changed the game more than Roger. Roger is the kindest, sweetest person that you would ever meet. He’s somebody that I’ve always loved — I mean, since I was a little kid, he was always one of my favorite people in the world.”SFGATE reached out to the NFL, the Pro Football Hall of Fame and an email linked to the “Up and Adams” show for comment. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said, “The league isn’t involved in the selection process,” which is something NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said at his press conference on Monday when asked about Bill Belichick’s snub, which ESPN first reported last week. The Pro Football Hall of Fame and the “Up and Adams” show did not respond to inquiries before the time of publication.York is right that it’s been a long road for Craig. Despite his accolades — three Super Bowl wins, four Pro Bowl selections and the 1988 AP Offensive Player of the Year award, as well as being a member of the all-1980s team — Hall of Fame voters haven’t deemed him worthy of a gold jacket, to the chagrin of any 49ers fan who watched him play.Recently, however, his odds of getting in have been on the up-and-up, thanks to a pair of leaks. Specifically, the leaks that Belichick and Patriots owner Robert Kraft would miss out on an induction in Canton, Ohio, this year. That leaves room for another candidate to enter the fray, and Craig has been on the receiving end of some notable campaigning on his behalf. If this is a sign that the Niners legend is finally getting the call of a lifetime, it only makes sense that it was leaked early, too.The official announcement about the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will happen during the NFL Honors show, which airs live from the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on Thursday night.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. —
The Hall of Fame induction of San Francisco 49ers legend Roger Craig may just have been leaked on a morning sports talk show.
Kay Adams, the host of the “Up & Adams” show, did her first live episode from radio row in the Moscone Center with a slate of NFL guests that included 49ers owner Jed York.
What are your thoughts?”
York’s response didn’t exactly confirm the induction, although he did wax poetic about Craig’s character and impact on the sport.
“Roger’s been waiting for so, so long,” York said. “I can’t think of anybody who changed the game more than Roger. Roger is the kindest, sweetest person that you would ever meet. He’s somebody that I’ve always loved — I mean, since I was a little kid, he was always one of my favorite people in the world.”

York is right that it’s been a long road for Craig.
