MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) -A traffic study funded by the Cleveland Browns will examine congestion concerns in Middleburg Heights.
They’re looking closely at Bagley Road near the Engle Road intersection. Mayor Matthew Castelli says it’s located just one to two miles from the planned new Browns stadium.
The location could see increased traffic on game days and during other events at the stadium.
The section of Bagley Road consists mainly of businesses with few residential properties, but it serves as an access point to Interstate 71.
“If there is going to be more congestion added we want to make sure there’s a plan to manage it,” Castelli said.
The Browns are paying $50,000 for the traffic study, which will examine traffic patterns and safety concerns in the area.
Castelli said while the stadium will bring additional business to the city, managing traffic flow remains a priority.
“Understanding congestion that has an impact on business so it’s important that the traffic continues to flow,” said Castelli.
There are several other traffic studies being done in connection to the new stadium. Mayor Castelli expects to receive these results within 30 days, after which officials will determine if changes are needed.
