NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – When the Tennessee Titans take the field this season, they will do so with a coaching leadership regime that has ample experience in the NFL.
Head coach Robert Saleh, offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and special teams coordinator John “Bones” Fassell have more than five decades of experience in the league as head coaches and coordinators.
Bradley comes to Tennessee after a stint in San Francisco, where he worked with Saleh. But that’s not the first time the two were on the same payroll.
Bradley took Saleh under his wing in Seattle in 2011 and 2012. When Bradley was named the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013, he also brought Saleh with him. Saleh will call the plays on defense, but says Bradley will be instrumental in implementing the system to the Titans players.
Daboll comes to Tennessee after four seasons as the head coach of the New York Giants. He’s got 26 years as an NFL coach, including eight as an offensive coordinator. He was named the NFL coach of the year in 2022. His hiring is critical for the development of quarterback Cam Ward.
And Fassel remains with the team after one year under the previous coaching staff. Under Fassel’s leadership, the Titans’ special teams unit improved tremendously. In fact, rookie Chimere Dike led the entire NFL in all-purpose yards and was named to the Pro Bowl. “Bones” has 21 years of experience coaching in the NFL.
The Titans are counting on the body of work from each of these coaches to pay off with success on the field. The team hasn’t had a winning record since 2021, when it finished first in the AFC.
