The Pittsburgh Steelers announced a handful of additions to Mike McCarthy’s coaching staff on Wednesday, including defensive quality control coach Pat Reilly.

Reilly served as an offensive assistant for the Houston Texans in 2025, helping them advance to the divisional round of the playoffs with a win over the Steelers. Before that, he was an assistant linebackers coach and defensive quality control coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2024-25).

Reilly began his coaching career in the collegiate ranks at Division III SUNY-Cortland, where he began as a video/equipment manager in 2010. He became an offensive quality control coach there the following year, then worked as a video coordinator from 2011-13 and a wide receivers coach in 2013. He moved on to become an offensive quality control intern at Syracuse (2013-14), a tight ends coach at SUNY-Brockport (2014) then returned to Syracuse as an offensive graduate assistant (2014-16).

Reilly was also an analyst or quality control coach at UCLA (2016-18) and Alabama (2018-21). He worked with the Bruins’ defensive line under Jim Mora and Chip Kelly.

Along with Reilly, the Steelers announced hires in Brian Angelichio (offensive coordinator), Danny Crossman (special teams coordinator), Joe Whitt Jr. (assistant head coach/secondary) and Domata Peko (defensive line).
