The Buffalo Bills have had their fair share of NFL draft hits and misses over the years. Today, we want your thoughts on the worst of the bunch, but maybe not just “worst” draft pick. We’re asking about the most “disappointing”, so it is a combination of hopes and performance.
“Worst” implies bad play while “most disappointing” could be injury luck or a mid player who ould have been great. Lots of ways to go with this.

Who is the most disappointing Bills draft pick of all time?
Here is my short list of answers.
I don’t think Coleman is the most disappointing Bills pick of all time because there is still time for him to get his head on right. But among recent draft picks, he’s the most disappointing to me because of why he hasn’t been producing. Being benched for being repeatedly late to team meetings is not cool with me. He makes the list.
This draft pick was disappointing because of the lack of due diligence. Other teams knew about the assault allegations against Araiza but Buffalo didn’t. They released him before he ever played a snap.
Basham was the second DE the Bills took that year and it seemed forced at the time. It didn’t get better. Jsut 23 games with the Bills and all 4.5 of his career sacks before being traded.
I have no idea what Rex Ryan wanted in Ragland, a clear two-down linebacker at best. He was injured and never played for the Bills, who traded him in 2017 after Ryan was fired.
Not exactly a draft bust, but certainly a disappointment. The Bills traded a future first-rounder to move up for Watkins. They passes on potentiall Hall of Famers in Khalil Mack, Jake Matthews, and Mike Evans with the next three picks. Wide receivers selected later in that draft include John Brown, Jarvis Landry, Allen Robinson, Davante Adams, Brandin Cooks, Odell Beckham Jr, and the aforementioned Mike Evans.
Graham had 54 catches in two seasons with the Bills, so not great on the surface. But Buffalo passed on Russell Wilson with the pick, angering a bunch of Bills fans for a decade.
You don’t often see $100 million guys on a disappointing draft pick list, but the 2011 NFL Draft was a different animal. A top 10 loaded with potential Hall of Famers, Dareus was picked just behind Von Miller and Cam newton but ahead of huge impact players like A.J. Green, Patrick Peterson, Julio Jones, J.J. Watt, Mike Pouncey, Cam Jordan, Cam Heyward and even Andy Dalton and Colin Kapernick. He was traded as a malcontent to the Jaguars and never lived up to his massive potential.
Out of the league almost as soon as he was in, an injury derailed his opportunity. He was famously picked just ahead of Rob Gronkowski, a noted Bills killer at a position of need AND from Western New York.
Famously never recorded a sack in two seasons with the Bills. Only one start in 27 games.
Only 16 games fron a second-round pick is not ideal. 10 career receptions even less ideal. Hamstring injuries hampered his entire career.
I don’t cout Losman as being super disappointing on his own, but they trade their 2005 first-rounder to get Losman. That turned into the 20th overall pick in 2005 which would have been able to nab Aaron Rodgers. (I know we are butterfly effecting here.)
A legit NFL Draft bust, Williams was supposed to be a safe pick but was anything but. He managed to start 48 games for the Bills before they gave up on him.
The 2000 NFL Draft won’t ever be considered a great one (outside of a pair of Hall of Famers), but Flowers was an all-time bad pick. 31 games for Buffalo in just two seasons before being released.
It might just be middle school me that thinks this, but he was drafted to succeed Jim Kelly and he… did not do well. Only one season as the starter and he was jettisoned with some horrendous stats after developing for two years.
A second-round pick in 1994 as a return specialist, he only spent one year with the Bills.
A first-round pick for Buffalo, and the play he is most known for is a drop in the end zone of a playoff game. (Then he threw Jim Kelly under the bus for a late throw.) Coincidentally, h has the most career receptions without a TD in playoff history. The Bills used their top pick in 1988 to replace him, too.
Picked a couple spots ahead of Jim Kelly, Hunter played just two seasons in Buffalo before being traded for an aging quarterback. Kelly could be on this list because they needed that QB because Kelly went to the USFL.
A draft bust, Tuttle was a first-round pick that managed jusr 24 catches in two seasons with the Bills. He did a lot better in the CFL.
The Bills eventually got the pick they used on Jim Kelly from trading Cousineau, but he skipped the Bills for the CFL because they offered him twice as much money. A first overall pick whiff.
A first overall pick, Patulski was seen as “too nice” but I think he is unfairly seen as a draft bust. I wish he had done better and he belongs on this list.
